  • The role

No two days are the same. You'll be involved in everything from securing resource consents and environmental approvals, to undertaking field inspections, monitoring compliance, advising operational teams and helping improve the way we manage environmental risks across our river management programmes.

  • You'll also:

Provide environmental and regulatory advice on a wide range of flood protection and drainage projects.

Manage resource consents and other environmental approvals from application through to compliance.

  • Undertake site inspections, environmental monitoring and compliance audits

Work closely with operational teams to identify practical solutions that achieve both environmental and operational outcomes.

Build strong relationships with iwi, landowners, government agencies, contractors and the wider community.

  • Contribute to environmental policy, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives

Help ensure Catchment Operations continues to meet changing environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing technical work, stakeholder engagement and field-based problem solving.

As part of our team based in Kairanga you will be providing support to the wider Catchment Operations Group, working across the region.   • About you

You're someone who enjoys finding practical solutions, working collaboratively and taking ownership of your work.

  • You'll bring:

A tertiary qualification in environmental science, freshwater ecology, resource management planning or a related discipline.

At least two years' experience in environmental management, planning, ecology, consent monitoring or resource consenting.

  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and resource consenting processes
  • Experience working with GIS and environmental information systems
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • A collaborative approach and an interest in continuous improvement
