Baptist Mission Australia is a donor supported mission organisation, and in this role you will be a key member of our communications team, focusing on donor engagement, strategy and fundraising. This role is also a key first point of contact for donor queries. For over 150 years, Baptist Mission Australia has sought to make a positive impact on the world through local community transformation. This is lived out through environmental, education, health and skills training projects that holistically respond to needs in developing countries. Whether offering therapy support to people with disabilities in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, teaching disadvantaged women in Malawi how to sew and set up small businesses or partnering with communities in Mozambique to plant trees after harmful deforestation. Reports to: Communications Manager

Conditions

  • 0.4 FTE (2 days per week)
  • 24-month term contract with potential for renewal
  • Hybrid: WFH and minimum one day per week at Hawthorn, Victoria office (if candidate based in Melbourne)

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Play a key role in organisation’s donor relations and engagement
  • Develop ideas and strategies around donor acquisition, journey and communications
  • Support fundraising initiatives that lead to increased funding
  • Lead donor stewardship activities (i.e. thank you calls, letters and impact communications)
  • Respond to donor queries via phone and email
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for fundraising and leadership teams
  • Maintain accuracy of database, and track donation trends, campaign performance and donor activity

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional, empathetic approach to donor enquiries
  • Commitment to excellent donor experience and stewardship
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A strong team player and people person
  • Alignment with our vision, mission, and values
  • Technically minded and quick learner
  • Highly organised, efficient and reliable
  • Qualifications in database management, fundraising or other relevant field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience working with donor databases/CRM (Virtuous preferred)

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience developing ideas and strategies around donor acquisition, journey and communications
  • Experience supporting fundraising initiatives that lead to increased funding
  • Experience with donor stewardship activities (i.e. thank you calls, letters and impact communications)
