Data Center Technician

📢 We’re Hiring: Smart Hands / Network Field Engineer

📍 Location: Vail, Colorado, USA

💵 Rate: $40 USD/hour

📄 Contract Type: Freelance 1099 Independent Contractor

🔧 Role: On-Call / On-Demand Onsite Support

⚠️ Important: This is an on-call, on-demand onsite role. Support will be required as needed, with 24–48 hours’ advance notice whenever possible.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Stage and prepare equipment before deployment.
• Rack, install, and cable Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs).
• Perform power, fiber, and Ethernet cross-connects.
• Verify switch port availability and physical connectivity.
• Install SFP modules, fiber patch cords, and Ethernet cables.
• Support remote engineers during implementation and cutover.
• Validate installations and troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.
• Remove and package legacy network equipment when required.
• Provide site updates and completion photos.

🔹 Required Skills

• Hands-on rack-and-stack experience.
• Cisco WLC installation and deployment experience.
• Knowledge of fiber-optic and Ethernet cabling.
• Smart Hands / Remote Hands support experience.
• Basic network troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in enterprise data center or network environments.

🔹 Required Tools

Candidates must bring their own equipment:

• Standard technician toolkit.
• Laptop with PuTTY and TFTP server.
• USB-to-RJ45 console cable.
• Ethernet and crossover cables.
• USB flash drive.
• Internet hotspot / Wi-Fi.
• Label maker.
• 6-foot ladder.
