Beyond DV is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to join our Healing & Recovery team. In this role, you will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred counselling to women impacted by domestic and family violence, supporting their healing, recovery and resilience in a safe, respectful environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone committed to empowering women through therapeutic support while working collaboratively within Beyond DV’s Five Pillars of Recovery.
The Counsellor position is 12 hours per week, worked across Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with four hours scheduled each day. The successful applicant is expected to commence in early to mid-September.
What You’ll Do
As the Counsellor, you will:
- Provide individual and group counselling using trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred approaches.
- Deliver up to six individual counselling sessions per client, in person or online where appropriate.
- Support women to identify goals, build resilience and access holistic supports.
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with internal teams and external services.
- Participate in therapeutic groups, Beyond DV events and recovery activities.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and monthly reports.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, client feedback and service quality.
- Work collaboratively with the Healing & Recovery Program Lead and multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain professional development and hold registration with a relevant professional body in Australia (e.g., AHPRA, ACA, PACFA).
- Promote culturally safe, psychologically safe and inclusive practice.

About You
You will bring:
- Qualifications and experience in counselling.
- Experience supporting people impacted by domestic and family violence or complex trauma.
- Excellent therapeutic, communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to assess needs, manage risk and make appropriate referrals.
- Commitment to professional development and ethical practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
