Prison Network Australia has been supporting women in and beyond prison for more than 75 years. Grounded in Christian faith, dignity, restoration and hope, the organisation works alongside women as they rebuild their lives, strengthen family connections and create lasting change.

Prison Network Australia is entering an exciting new phase of growth. Recent funding has enabled significant expansion of its housing initiatives, the organisation has launched its first social enterprise, and a new strategic plan is currently being developed.

Following the outstanding leadership of the outgoing Chair, the Board is seeking an exceptional individual to guide the organisation through its next chapter.

About the Opportunity

As Board Chair you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to a highly engaged and collaborative Board.
  • Partner closely with an experienced and respected CEO.
  • Strengthen governance and organisational sustainability.
  • Support the implementation of the next strategic plan.
  • Build trusted relationships with government, funders, community partners and key stakeholders.
  • Champion the organisation's mission and represent Prison Network Australia with integrity and authenticity.
  • This is a voluntary governance appointment requiring an average commitment of approximately one day per week, including five Board meetings annually plus the AGM.

About You

We are seeking an accomplished governance leader who brings:

  • Significant experience as a Board Chair or Deputy Chair
  • Strong strategic thinking and sound governance judgement.
  • Experience working with CEOs and Boards in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Outstanding relationship building and influencing capability.
  • High levels of integrity, humility, empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • An authentic Christian faith and strong alignment with Prison Network Australia's mission and values.
  • Experience within not-for-profit, community services, philanthropy, justice, housing, social impact or government sectors will be highly regarded.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute your leadership to an organisation making a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable women, their families and communities.
