Job Description
Job Specifications
Officers will be responsible to their Deputy Director, for design and development and maintenance of public transport infrastructure within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA).
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating the development and implementation of MRTS and NMT policies, strategies, standards, procedures and guidelines;
Overseeing the development and maintenance of MRTS and NMT infrastructure and associated facilities;
Ensuring MRTS and NMT services are integrated with other modes of public transport;
Liaising with the implementing entities to ensure development works are delivered as per schedule and to the specified quality;
Monitoring priority programmes and project implementation through set timelines, budgets and resource allocation;
Ensuring the preparation of periodic programmes and projects reports;
Coordinating the Identification of MRTS and NMT Infrastructure development priority areas for funding;
Coordinating the preparation of funding proposals for projects and programmes;
Preparing tender specifications and documents for MRTS and NMT infrastructure works;
Coordinating the identification and preparation of list of lead actors for corporate resource mobilization;
Ensuring the preparation of policies and analytic brief for top management;
Organizing the integration of Public Transport and land use planning in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area (NMA);
Identifying and Liaising with external finance agencies for resource mobilization and developing various project financing models; and.
Coordinating the Collection and collating of social economic and environmental data for development of MRTS and NMT infrastructure.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -
A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector;
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management/Construction Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management/Construction Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
Membership/Registration of a professional body in good standing where applicable; and
Proficiency in computer applications.
