WHO WE ARE
The Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC) Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation drawing on over 50 years of expertise in cancer prevention through pathology services, cancer screening and vaccination registries. We have helped to reduce the mortality rate from cervical cancer in Victoria to half that of the rest of Australia. Our purpose aligns with the World Health Organisation's Call to Action to eliminate cervical cancer for all women.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Anatomical Pathologist to join our VCS Pathology team on a part/full time basis, focused on providing a quality and specialist service. The primary responsibility of the position is the diagnostic reporting of gynaecological cytology (liquid based cytology and conventional pap smears), histological cases and non-gynaecological cytology specimens. Key areas of responsibility include but not limited to the following:
- Reporting of liquid based cytology (ThinPrep and/or Surepath) and conventional pap smears referred by scientists.
- Reporting of surgical biopsies including macroscopic descriptions, cut-up, microscopic description.
- Reporting of non-gynaecological cytology tests.
- Review of previously reported cervical cytology in relation to quality control processes within the organisation.
- Participation in teaching activities for scientists, Cytopathology trainees and other groups.
- Consultation with referring clinicians about specific reports and cervical screening in general.
- Maintenance of acceptable levels of productivity and accuracy according to VCS Pathology Quality System.
- Participation in ACPCC and external continuing education activities and medical education presentations.
- Participation in internal and external Quality Assurance activities.
- Satisfactory completion of the RCPA CPDP documentation.
- Participation in special projects and research.
