Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records for all subsidiaries, ensuring proper documentation and filing in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for the group, including inter-company reconciliations and eliminations.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including real estate construction accounting (e.g., project cost tracking), REIT fund management, microfinance bank prudential guidelines, fintech payment reconciliation, and hospitality revenue accounting.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for each business unit, monitoring actual performance against budget and providing variance analysis.
- Compute, file, and remit all applicable taxes (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) across the group, ensuring timely compliance with FIRS and state revenue authorities.
- Oversee the processing of vendor payments, contractor milestone payments, and customer/tenant/investor receipts, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement.
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily, monitor cash flow across entities, and prepare cash position reports for management.
- Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with insights on profitability, cost drivers, and revenue trends for each subsidiary.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing required schedules, ledgers, and explanations during periodic audits.
- Review and strengthen internal controls, recommend process efficiencies, and ensure adherence to group financial policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role, with practical experience in at least two of the following sectors: real estate development, construction, REIT investment, fintech, microfinance banking, or hospitality.
- Professional certification is mandatory (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., CBN guidelines for microfinance banks, SEC rules for REITs).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple entities with minimal supervision.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with group consolidation and inter-company transactions.
- Familiarity with payment gateway reconciliation for fintech operations.
- Knowledge of construction job costing and revenue recognition (IFRS 15).
