- Debt Counselor
About the Role:
As a Debt Counselor, you'll play a crucial role in recovering delinquent accounts. You'll be responsible for contacting debtors, providing clear information, and negotiating payment plans that work for both parties. You'll need to be adept at handling sensitive information and maintaining a professional demeanor, even in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management:
Actively manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts, initiating outbound calls to debtors.
Communication:
Effectively communicate with debtors, providing accurate account information and explaining payment options.
Problem-Solving:
Negotiate payment plans and resolve disputes, ensuring compliance with FDCPA and LPS guidelines.
Data Entry:
Accurately update and maintain debtor records in the Latitude System.
Teamwork:
Collaborate with the Collections Supervisor and team members to optimize processes and achieve departmental goals.
Performance Metrics:
Meet or exceed monthly quotas and daily call volume targets.
Qualifications:
- CXC/CSEC-level proficiency in Math and English
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in data entry and analysis
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills
- Clean police record
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple computer screens
