Your CV: formal qualifications and language ability

A CV has one job: to make someone decide, in seconds, that you are worth reading properly.

What it needs

• Name and contact. A mobile number with WhatsApp and a professional email address.
• Location. City and province.
• Experience. Employer, role, dates and what you achieved.
• Education. Degree, institution and year.
• Languages. Bahasa Indonesia and English with honest levels, plus any others.
• Certifications, with validity dates where relevant.

What to leave out

KTP number, marital status, number of children, religion. Employers may request some of these on their own forms at hiring stage, which is where they belong.

English matters in specific sectors

In multinational corporates, technology and tourism, English proficiency is a real differentiator. State your level honestly — it will be tested.

Technology applications

Portfolio, GitHub and demonstrable products count more than the CV format. Include links prominently.

Manufacturing and technical

Specific equipment, systems and standards worked with, safety certifications with dates, and any experience with quality systems.

Mining

Safety certifications near the top with expiry dates, site experience, rotation availability and equipment familiarity.

Corporate and banking

Formal qualifications stated precisely, professional certifications, and relevant sector experience.

Describe the work, not the title

"Production Supervisor" says little. "Supervised a line of 40 operators across two shifts, met a daily target of 12,000 units and reduced defect rate from 3% to 1.2% over a year" says a great deal more.

Use numbers wherever you have them.

Length

One to two pages. Two is normal beyond a few years of experience.
