This position is in the Office of International Transportation and Trade and serves as a division chief and Senior Transportation and Trade Negotiator with responsibility for the formulation of the Department of Transportation's positions and the preparation of economic, operational and policy analyses for international trade negotiations and for international trade and foreign direct investment problems. As a Supervisory International Transportation Specialist, you will: Serves as the division chief with operational and personnel authority for the Trade Policy Division's non-supervisory staff and formulates annual and long-range plans for programs and work priorities. Formulates recommended United States' positions and strategies for achieving United States' objectives for negotiating international trade agreements and for resolving trade problems with counterpart countries and foreign direct investment problems through intermodal and interagency review. Develops, negotiates, and ensures compliance with transportation provisions of international trade agreements impacting the transportation sector with elements of the Department of Transportation, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Department of State, other U.S. Government agencies, international national organizations, foreign governments, foreign embassies, state and local governments, private industry, and the public. Participation in international meetings and/or trade negotiations, both bilateral and multilateral, to represent U.S. Department of Transportation and the United States. The ideal candidate has experience as a manager or leader and is a motivated and self-reliant professional, having experience conducting international trade and foreign direct investment analysis, expertise in formulating trade policy or negotiating international bilateral and multilateral transportation and trade agreements between the United States and foreign Governments, and managing people and programs.
