The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist. The Supervisory Transportation Specialist will function in the Travel section within the Patient Care Administrative Service. Duties of the Supervisory Transportation Specialist include, but are not limited to: Plans, assigns, directs, and reviews work; establishes priorities, adjusts workloads, and ensures timely completion of assignments. Plans, directs, coordinates, and manages the daily operations of the Beneficiary Travel and Special Mode Transportation (SMT) programs to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely delivery of travel benefits and transportation services. Manages the Special Mode Transportation Program, ensuring appropriate authorization, scheduling, utilization, fiscal accountability, medical necessity determinations, and compliance with VA eligibility requirements. Conducts quality assurance reviews of eligibility determinations, claims processing, transportation authorizations, documentation, and employee performance to ensure compliance with federal laws, VA regulations, internal controls, and local operating procedures. Oversee program operations/ major program segments, including coordination with supervisors, team leads, contractors, and organizational units. Assigns, monitors, and reviews the work of subordinate employees to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent application of travel benefit laws, regulations, and policies. Oversees the management and timely resolution of customer inquiries, complaints, and correspondence received through Patient Advocate Tracking System-Replacement (PATS-R), Patient Advocacy, congressional inquiries, White House inquiries Oversees the management and timely resolution of executive correspondence, suspense actions, Veterans, caregivers, and other stakeholders, ensuring responses are accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with established response deadlines. Maintains fiscal oversight of the Beneficiary Travel Program by monitoring expenditures, preventing improper payments, ensuring effective internal controls, and safeguarding government resources. Independently analyzes, interprets, and applies federal laws, VA regulations, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures to resolve complex eligibility and entitlement issues.
