Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Supervisory Civil Engineer. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Lakewood, Colorado
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Dam Safety and Infrastructure, LAKEWOOD, COLORADO At the full performance level (GS-14) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Supervises a multidisciplinary team (GS-13 and GS-14 engineers, GS-12/11 analysts), handling all associated personnel actions, performance management, workload assignments, and resolution of complex workplace issues. Leads development and implementation of Water O&M policy, serving as Reclamation's senior technical advisor and primary contact for regional offices on water resource operations and compliance. Provides expert engineering and program guidance to ensure effective oversight of roughly 4,000 O&M assets valued at over $140B, ensuring reliability, safety, and alignment with agency objectives. Coordinates Water O&M program activities across Interior bureaus, federal and state agencies, and internal offices; conducts strategic planning, evaluates program effectiveness, and recommends major program adjustments. Represents Reclamation with Departmental leadership, state/local governments, NGOs, and public stakeholders; prepares high-level briefings, testimonies, and policy materials on water and related resource issues. Leads and facilitates standing and ad hoc O&M teams, collaborating across agencies and stakeholder groups to apply innovative technologies and advance reliability, conservation, and environmental goals.

You must possess a current licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. (Must show expiration date of licensure) As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period to evaluate your fitness and whether your continuation of employment advances the public interest. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated. Upon completion of your probationary period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. This is a supervisory position that may require completion of a supervisory probationary period.
