This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. As a second-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Deputy Patrol Agent in Charge), you will serve as a secondary administrative supervisory law enforcement officer under 5 U.S.C. 8331(6)(c) and 8412(d). Typical duties will include: Leading and supervising station personnel by assigning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, addressing conduct issues, and recommending training, awards, promotions, and reassignments. Managing station operations, budget, and workforce requirements by monitoring personnel, financial, and material resources, adjusting to shifting workloads and priorities, and ensuring cost effective program execution. Developing and implementing station policies, standard operating procedures, and operational directives in alignment with DHS, CBP, and USBP guidance, translating Headquarters and sector priorities into local objectives and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Directing and overseeing station law enforcement and intelligence activities, including apprehensions and detentions, investigations, searches and seizures, work with confidential human sources, and specialized programs. Coordinating and maintaining operational partnerships and liaison with federal, state, local, tribal, foreign, and other stakeholders, negotiating procedures, justifying resource needs, and leading joint planning, intelligence gathering, and interagency operations.
