This position is part of the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, Department of Energy. As a Program Manager, you will serve as an expert advisor within the Department of Energy's Office of Coal. In this role, the incumbent plans, manages, and oversees research, development, and demonstration projects focused on converting coal into high-value products, utilizing coal combustion residues, and implementing carbon mineralization technologies.

Veterans shape the future of energy As a Program Manager, you will: Plan, organize, and manage, highly complex scientific and engineering programs and projects that lack established precedents, developing the necessary operating plans, schedules, and budgets. Serve as an expert technical authority to explain, interpret, and defend agency policies and technical decisions to stakeholders with divergent, opposing, or conflicting viewpoints. Evaluate the technical merits, maturity, and risks of emerging technologies and alternative scientific approaches to recommend solutions that mitigate risks and support the agency's mission. Advise senior leadership on critical technical and policy issues, preparing comprehensive briefs, reports, and congressional testimony relating to program directions and achievements. Formulate project plans and monitors ongoing progress regarding cost, schedule, and quality, collaborating with Contracting Officers to manage multi-million dollar agreements, grants, and cost-sharing contracts. Represent the agency on interagency task forces, committees, and professional conferences to promote cooperation on scientific initiatives and ensure the infusion of cutting-edge technology into program efforts.
