Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizes skills in the theory and practice of sport and non-clinical performance dietetics to enhance health, wellness, performance in support of Marine Corps integrated holistic primary prevention. Implements and follows Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and Marine Corps policy, applying evidence-based nutrition knowledge in operational readiness, exercise, and sports. The incumbent assesses, educates, and counsels Marines and implements and manages safe and effective nutrition strategies that enhance lifelong health, fitness, and optimize performance. Supports Marine Corps sports programs such as installation sports and all-Marine sports teams. May travel to Marine Corps sports related training camps and events as needed. The incumbent assesses and analyzes dietary practices, body composition, and energy intake and expenditures of Marine athletes in the context of operational performance and health. Counsels Marines on optimal nutrition for unit specific training and achieving and maintaining body mass that is consistent with Marine Corps body composition requirements and optimal health and performance. Incumbent addresses nutrition and hydration challenges to performance in garrison and field environments and consults with units and staff on optimal nutrition practices. Implements standardized nutrition education with a focus on optimal nutrition recovery from illness or injury and ensures Semper Fit protocols are followed. Collaborates with other providers within MCTF to achieve a wide variety of objectives and project to deliver practical nutritional education opportunities such as cooking classes, community gardens, shopping tours, and kitchen assessments. Provides in-person and electronic communications with dispersed units in the development of deployment or field-based nutrition and hydration plans, may provide some individual sessions when referral is made via a medical provider to address target population needs such as pregnant, post-partum, post injury, or body composition program. Incumbent develops and delivers nutrition education related to supplementation that complies with the Department of Defense (DoD) dietary supplement program and stipulations in the DoD Instruction 6130.06. Develops and delivers nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on topics related to nutrition for performance that occur inside and outside of the performance center such as in the field, at sports camps and events, barracks, teaching kitchens, health fairs. Incumbent develops and teaches non-clinical nutrition education and cooking classes for optimal performance of families, staff, and other authorized users. Creates performance-based digital and educational content such as articles, social media messages, webinars, and partners with marketing teams to develop infographics using evidence-based resources for public distribution aboard the installation. Serves as the primary nutrition resource for WARR staff to ensure appropriate educational content is delivered across all domains of fitness. Incumbent manages inventory and needs of educational aids, supplies, and resources required to deliver operational and performance -based nutrition education and cooking skills classes. Maintains liaison with various organizations to include but not limited to the Navy Medical Center, dining facilities, Marine Corps Exchanges (MCX), the Uniformed Services University- Consortium for Health and Military Performance, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the American Sports and Performance Dietitians Association. Maintains working relationships with an interdisciplinary team who provide services related to physical, mental, spiritual, social fitness, sleep, and nutrition. Ensures alignment between programs and methodologies, mission, and vision aligns. Manages distribution and movement of secure information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure such as treatment records, follow-up care, reconditioning programs, referrals, and subjective, objective, assessment, and planning notes. Inspects and ensures installations safeguards sensitive information and prevents unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying, or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and DoD Directive 6025.18. The incumbent notifies supervisor immediately when proprietary information has been released and advises on how to properly recover and protect information. May serve as a participant in advisory boards, working groups, and collaborations related to MCTF, WARR, and other committees to enhance primary prevention efforts across the Marine Corps.
