This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Supervises and coordinates daily operations of the Outpatient Pharmacy, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant distributive services. Plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews work for pharmacists and technicians, adjusting staffing based on workload demands. Oversees controlled substance management and ensures full compliance with VA, DEA, and regulatory security requirements. Maintains and optimizes pharmacy automation and equipment to support accurate and efficient medication distribution. Ensures accurate interpretation, verification, preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications in accordance with standards. Monitors workflow processes and maintains effective systems for accurate dispensing, documentation, and record keeping. Develops, updates, and enforces pharmacy policies, procedures, and standard operating practices. Leads performance improvement, quality assurance, and system redesign initiatives, including audits and accuracy reviews. Ensures compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including USP 797, Joint Commission, and VA policies. Coordinates procurement and inventory management to maintain adequate stock levels and manage drug recalls. Provides direct pharmaceutical care, including order verification, patient counseling, and medication-related interventions. Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic health record consistent with medical and regulatory requirements. Recruits, trains, evaluates, and mentors staff; conducts performance reviews; and recommends personnel actions such as promotions or disciplinary measures. Communicates effectively with pharmacy leadership and clinical partners regarding operational, clinical, or administrative issues. Performs administrative decision-making in the absence of higher-level pharmacy leadership and fulfills other duties as assigned, including irregular shifts or emergency call-backs.
