The United States Space Force (USSF) in Dahlgren, Virginia at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is searching for a Mission Support Orbital Analyst to support the 19 SDS (NH-0301-02, GS 05/11 equivalent). Description: To serve as a Mission Support Orbital Analyst within the 19th Space Defense Squadron (19 SDS), accomplishing the critical Space Domain Awareness (SDA) mission for U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) while providing warfighters with timely and accurate satellite positional data on man-made space objects. The incumbent is responsible for operating weapon systems over various platforms, the analyst serves as a highly-skilled operator in a command and control (C2) center, directing worldwide space sensors to detect, track, and identify all man-made space objects in support of USSPACECOM's warfighting SDA mission, and accurately maintaining current and historical positional data on satellites and space debris in geocentric earth orbits and beyond. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Ability to perform precision orbit determination updates to include manual differential corrections and other complex statistical estimation techniques. 2. Skill to perform a higher degree of space analysis of objects and SDA data sharing; research, analyze, interpret, and present data and supporting analysis to leadership. 3. Ability to independently set priorities, plan, coordinate, and organize work to identify problems and develop innovative solutions; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress and evaluate outcomes. 4. Operational knowledge of tasking procedures and sensor limitations for Near-Earth and Deep-Space orbits/trajectories. 5. Knowledge and understanding of agency, USAF, USSF, Department of Defense (DoW), and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s). 6. Possess a fundamental knowledge of orbital mechanics and dynamics. 7. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
