This position is located in the Environmental Management Service at the VA Illiana Healthcare System in Danville IL. Incumbent performs under the supervision of the Linen Supervisor and Environmental Management Service Chief. Incumbent usually performs independently in accordance with set procedures and directives. Incumbent maintains records when adding or removing textile items for the annual reporting requirement. Receiving, delivering, and putting away textiles. Stocking toilet paper, paper towels, soap dispensers. Monitoring phone, checking voicemail, and E-mail. Count worn, torn and wasted linen. Completing shipping and receiving log. Sorts various groups of garments and linens into bins by matching identification symbols. Maintain accountability and security of linen. Checks numbers of items against those indicated on ticket. Sweeping and mopping. Cleaning and ensuring the linen storage room and dock are clean/orderly. Removing trash, replacing liner, and transporting trash to the centralized trash room. Incumbent is continuously bending and reaching while performing duties. Incumbent may continuously push or maneuver carts weighing up to 600 pounds.
