The position serves as the Laundry Leader for the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS). The employee leads workers engaged in laundry and linen operations, including processing, distribution, equipment operation, and associated support programs. The position performs nonsupervisory laundry and textile care work and provides day-to-day technical direction to a multi grade team.
Closing date extended to August 26th, 2026 Major duties include: Works alongside staff and sets the pace for production, quality, and compliance with safety and infection control procedures. Demonstrates proper work methods for linen handling, sterile area procedures, equipment operation, and safe work practices. Provides technical guidance, answers questions on policies, PPE, task procedures, and linen handling protocols. Ensures proper collection, containment, and transportation of soiled linen from clinical users to the laundry plant following infection control and PPE requirements. Manages rotation, accountability, and tracking of patient clothing and valuables, including safe access procedures. Initiates work orders for needed repairs and maintains liaison with vendor technicians and contractors supporting chemical injection systems and automation platforms. Coordinates preventive maintenance scheduling, reports performance deficiencies, and monitors equipment usage. Loads and unloads linen carts using hydraulic lifts and secures cargo safely. Addresses operational issues such as linen shortages, delivery disruptions, equipment malfunctions, and process deviations. Oversees uniform distribution, scrub operations, and the Scrub X automated dispensing system, including data updates, user troubleshooting, and training. Provides data collection and summary information to assist management in planning, procurement, and budgeting.
