Join the team! This position is located in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Division of Procurement Services (FMPS). The office provides contract and grants administration services. The office reports to the agency's Chief Financial Officer.
The incumbent reports to the Division Director of Procurement Services and serves as a Grants Management Specialist for all CPSC grant programs. The Grants Management Specialist applies his/her expertise in managing grants and awards to improve safety, prevent deaths and injuries, and increase consumer awareness of product hazards, in accordance with the CPSC mission. The Grants Management Specialist is responsible for working with CPSC offices to develop funding opportunity announcements (FOA) for CPSC grants, designing application evaluation criteria, forming and facilitating the application review panel process to evaluate grant applications, and presenting award recommendations while complying with applicable laws, regulations and policies pertaining to the award and administration of federal grants. The Grants Management Specialist works with the CPSC Procurement Services Director in grant award and modification decisions, properly documenting agency grant files, identifying additional terms and conditions to mitigate risks, and closing out completed grant awards. Analyzes deficiencies, weaknesses and strengths identified in the review of submitted grant applications, amendments, re-budgeting request, Federal Financial Reports (FFR) and single audit reports. Provides expertise, training and technical assistance to program officials, applicants, and awardees, including the sharing of best practices. Implements, manages, and tracks the Commission's grants programs and is responsible for external reporting requirements. Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for efficient and effective grant administration, including the periodic evaluation of existing procedures to comply with federal laws and regulations and related audit findings. Coordinates with other federal agencies in grant administration. Conducts training and outreach to assist potential grant applicants. Monitors grant awards, including site visit monitoring, as necessary.
