This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, with in the Office of Environment, Health and Safety at WCF, in Fort Worth, TX. As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating Bureau-wide programs designed to ensure safe, healthy, environmentally sound facilities for employees, contractors, visitors and neighbors at its facilities. As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will: Serve as a Program Manager for industrial waste management, including hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, waste minimization and pollution prevention, spill preparedness, prevention, and response. Maintain all waste management records and data to meet regulatory reporting and Executive Order requirements. Prepare technical reports of environmental analyses and studies undertaken, including findings and recommendations. Develop and prepare instructional and informational material, including official bulletins, newsletters, guides and etc., to promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance of environmental programs and procedures. Take corrective action or reports to proper authorities those safety discrepancies that would be harmful to personnel and/or equipment. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service.
