We are seeking highly motivated professionals to join our team. This position is located at the Department of Commerce OIG, Office of Investigations. As a Special Agent, you will perform the following duties: Plan and conduct complex and highly visible investigations to determine violations of Federal, DOC, and OIG laws, regulations, and policies. Investigate, gather, and develop complex technical evidence relevant to many phases of the matter under investigation. Use several investigative techniques in order to prove or disprove allegations or evidence of fraud. Formally and informally question subject and third-party witnesses and secure evidence from other outside sources to determine the nature and extent of the violation. Take sworn statements, depositions and affidavits from witnesses and others as may be required to develop information and secure admissible evidence. Plan and conduct complex and highly visible investigations to determine violations of Federal, DOC, and OIG laws, regulations, and policies. Investigate, gather, and develop complex technical evidence relevant to many phases of the matter under investigation. Use several investigative techniques in order to prove or disprove allegations or evidence of fraud. Write affidavits in support of, obtain and execute search warrants and subpoenas, to seize and collect documentary or physical evidence, search/process crime scenes, conduct interviews and interrogations of victims, witnesses, and suspects. Administer oaths, effect arrests/apprehension of criminals who commit violations. Confer with and assist U.S. Attorneys in preparing information and evidence for trials. Serve Grand Jury subpoenas when directed by the courts. Testify as a government witness before Grand Juries and in the courts, and at administrative hearings. Upon request, analyze investigative procedures as a subject matter expert and provide recommendations to senior officials on complex findings that may affect future business processes. Recommend new policies based on experience involving an identifiable pattern trend within cases worked. Assist developmental criminal investigators with standard operating procedures including completing reports and collecting evidence.
Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Top Secret - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position. Complete a pre-employment physical examination Sign a Geographic Mobility Agreement
