The Border Patrol Agent (BORSTAR) serves as a primary-rigorous law enforcement officer under 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) and 8412(d), duties and responsibilities include: Serving as an Operator for BORSTAR. Resolving emergency situations and high-risk incidents while reducing the risk of loss of life or serious injury to officers, victims, or innocent third parties. Providing responses to situations involving civil disturbances, hostage situations, high-risk warrant executions, tactical operations/situations, reconnaissance/surveillance services, civil emergencies (either man-made or natural disasters), and search and rescue operations. Demonstrating a high level of skill in weaponry, self defense, confrontation management, aquatics, rappelling, technical rescue, land navigation, law enforcement search and rescue, tracking, air operations, National Incident Management System (NIMS), emergency rescue procedures, tactical medical operations, and waterborne operations.
