The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist performs complex imaging exams, ensures high-quality diagnostic results, supports physicians during specialized procedures, and maintains safe, efficient workflow in the radiology service.
*This is an open continuous job announcement. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.* Due to staffing shortages in Fiscal Year (FY26), this vacancy announcement is exempt from Veterans Preference. The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist performs Special Procedures utilizing surgical sterile technique, monitors the patient's condition and needs prior to, during, and after the procedure, administers contrast media as directed by the Radiologist and reports changes in patient condition in a timely manner, performs all examinations/procedures utilizing optimal technical proficiency to obtain an examination, rotates between work assignments on differing types of equipment displaying technical proficiency. The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist will perform x-ray exams as needed. Examinations include, but are not limited to: Biopsies: Abdominal/retroperitoneal, adrenal, bone, bone marrow, liver, lung, lymph node, prostate, renal and thyroid; Interventional Procedures: Abscess and biliary drainage, adrenal vein sampling, angioplasty, pulmonary, arterial, venous and visceral angiograms, AV fistula, chest tube placement, hemodialysis catheter implantation, GI bleed embolization, fiducial placement, gastrostomy tube insertion, inferior vena cava filter placement, nephroureteral stent placement, percutaneous nephrostomy tube placement, paracentesis, infusa-port and PICC insertion, removal of foreign body with snare, stenting, thoracentesis, thrombolysis, and trans-arterial chemo embolization; Vascular (IR/OR) Procedures: Aorto-femoral bypass, atherectomy, embolectomy, endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, vascular runoffs, stenting and thrombolysis. The Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist will also: Operate all Angiography equipment and related Angiography (i.e.: telerad, power injectors, I-stat, etc.) Operate all radiographic and portable units; perform all types of radiographic, tomographic and portable procedures. Works closely with the professional staff involved in radiographic examinations. Must be experienced and perform interventional, vascular, endovascular procedures, intravascular ultrasound, tableside technical support, biplane x-ray angiography. Performs portable radiographic exams at the bedside and in the operating rooms providing diagnostic x-rays to the surgeons and professional staff on patients that are unable to be x-rayed in the Radiology Service due to incapacity or surgical procedures. Responsible to the Radiologists and Vascular Surgeons for the quality and quantity of radiographic images performed ensuring a high level of acceptability of images while minimizing patient dosage and reducing costs. He/she will also scrub, circulate, prepare patients for diagnostic, interventional and vascular procedures, monitor patients during procedures, document accurate procedure data, prepare required reports and ensure accuracy in his/her work. Maintains electronic records and files of exams performed on patients. This includes the maintenance of electronically secured spreadsheets, registration and editing of patient exams in the computerized information system and ensuring all images and required paperwork is properly filled out and scanned in to the PACS system, in the correct orientation and on the correct patient. Technologist is required to keep abreast of current technical literature and evaluate new procedures and techniques for recommending for consideration changes to the current practices. Technologist will assist in training and orientation of new technologist and/or students in procedures and equipment.
