This position is in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Office of the Commissioner for Patents, Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Patents, Office of Patent Training, Patent Training Academy. The Patents business unit at the USPTO examines applications and grants patents on inventions when applicants are entitled to them, publishes and disseminates patent information and records assignments of patents and maintains search files of U.S. and foreign patents. The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Presence at the Alexandria, VA campus is required for this role, as it includes on site functions that must be performed in person. Major Duties for this position include: Provide advisory services and improve training program efficiency. Plan, organize, and direct Patent Training Academy operations. Provide authoritative advisory services and/or develop authoritative policy interpretations. Supervise staff responsible for executing training program activities and ensure compliance with policy changes, established procedures, and training priorities. Resolve recurring and unique training and program issues and develop evaluation systems.
