ABOUT US

VAHPA is a dynamic, member-led union representing Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) across Victoria. We are committed to social justice, workplace democracy and the advancement of public healthcare. Our work combines industrial advocacy with broader campaigning on issues that matter to our members and the communities they serve.

THE ROLE

VAHPA Organisers are central to building and exercising the collective power of AHPs across Victoria. This role supports members by increasing union membership, developing confident and capable workplace leaders, and coordinating campaigns that improve wages, conditions, respect and safety at work.

Organisers work directly with members and delegates to address workplace issues, build democratic structures, and advance the union's strategic objectives. The role includes field organising, campaign implementation, and direct member support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Engage with members to build relationships and trust in the union.
  • Support and mobilise members around workplace campaigns, enterprise bargaining, peer-to-peer recruitment, and occupational health and safety.
  • Initiate, plan and implement workplace and industry campaigns.
  • Support bargaining strategies and engage in negotiations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A strong commitment to the objectives of VAHPA, to fairness and social justice, with the ability to foster member engagement and solidarity.
  • Proven ability to build strong, respectful relationships with union members, delegates and colleagues.
  • Practical understanding of enterprise agreements, awards, and relevant legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply them in workplace settings.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating member-led campaigns, including planning, mobilisation, and communication.
