About Us

ZapCat is a certified social enterprise helping Australian households transition to clean energy.

The process of understanding what technologies are right for a home, accessing rebates, comparing quotes and navigating installation can be confusing. Our job is to make it simple.

We work with local councils and government to deliver independent electrification programs that help households install technologies such as solar, batteries, heat pump hot water systems, EV chargers, reverse cycle air conditioning and induction cooktops.

We're a small, fast-moving team where everyone pitches in, learns quickly and has the opportunity to make a real difference.

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated and adaptable Program Support Officer to help keep our electrification programs running smoothly.

This is an ideal role for a recent university graduate looking to build a career in the clean energy sector. No two days are the same. One day you might be researching installers in a new council area, the next you're helping organise community events, supporting home energy assessments or speaking with households over the phone.

Reporting to the CEO, you'll also work closely with our Technical Director, Clean Energy Advisors and Community Engagement Manager to support the operational delivery of our programs.

If you enjoy working with people, are highly organised, have great attention to detail and like solving problems, you'll thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary from day to day but include:

  • Researching electrification installers in program areas and assisting with their onboarding.
  • Supporting Clean Energy Advisors by following up with households and helping keep cases moving.
  • Providing administrative support for home energy assessments, including onboarding assessors, monitoring assessment progress and verifying documentation.
  • Assisting with the organisation of community events, workshops and webinars, with occasional attendance at evening and weekend events.
  • Preparing basic communication materials such as social media posts, flyers, posters and formatting slides.
  • Answering incoming phone calls and responding to enquiries through our general inbox.
  • Maintaining accurate records across our systems.
  • Providing general administrative support across the team as required.
  • Helping improve internal processes as our programs continue to grow.

About you

We're less interested in what you studied than in your attitude and enthusiasm.

We think you'll be a great fit if you:

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Enjoy talking with people and providing friendly, professional customer service.
  • Are organised and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Can comfortably switch between different tasks throughout the day.
  • Learn quickly and enjoy figuring things out.
  • Are proactive and don't wait to be told what to do.
  • Are adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change.
  • Enjoy working as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Are passionate about renewable energy and helping accelerate Australia's clean energy transition.

Hours and Location

This role is 30 hours per week, worked across 5 days. While there is some flexibility in how your hours are arranged, the role includes answering the phone and supporting our team during business hours, so availability across all five weekdays is required.

The role is fully remote; however, applicants must be Sydney-based as we meet in person and deliver community events across Sydney. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support these events.

Why Join Us

  • Help tackle climate change. Your work will directly help households reduce emissions and lower their energy bills.
  • Purpose over profit. We're a certified social enterprise focused on creating positive environmental and social impact.
  • Learn fast. Work alongside experienced professionals across clean energy, operations, technology and community engagement.
  • Make an impact early. You'll be trusted with real responsibility from day one and have opportunities to grow as the organisation expands.
  • Supportive culture. Join a small, friendly team that values collaboration, initiative and continuous improvement.
