CERES is a not-for-profit environmental education centre, urban farm and social enterprise hub spread across four locations, linked by the Merri and Darebin Creeks on Wurundjeri Country, Melbourne. We are a registered charity with the principalpurpose of protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

Starting as a rubbish tip, CERES has grown into a thriving green hub: a model for urban farms around Australia, a living education centre for environmental best practice, and an incubator for better business and ideas that might just change theworld. More than half a million people visit the site each year, and its social enterprises – which include cafes, market gardens, an organic grocery and bakery, sustainable timber, home delivered groceries (CERES Fair Food), a retail nursery, workshops, school education and regular events and festivals - reach many more.

Job description

Working across our 4.5 hectare CERES Park, you will lead the safe, sustainable and effective management of the Park's buildings, facilities and public spaces, ensuring they remain welcoming, accessible and fit for purpose.

This position is offered at 30 - 38 Hours per week.

Where you come in

You will manage all aspects of park facilities operations including asset management, maintenance planning, site safety systems, waste management systems, contractor performance and infrastructure projects, while demonstrating sustainable building and resource management practices.

Your management contribution plays a key role in contributing to an exceptional visitor experience and supporting the delivery of CERES programs, events and commercial activities.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading the development of our facilities, buildings and parkland for a greater visitor experience
  • Demonstrating best-practice building and resource management practices
  • Building strong connections across our shared systems and assets
  • Supporting local community engagement programs, events and site activities
  • Creating a positive, safe and inclusive environment for staff, volunteers and visitors

Does this sound like you?

This role requires:

  • Proven experience managing facilities, buildings, infrastructure or public assets.
  • Strong interest in environmentally sustainable building and resource management practices.
  • Strong understanding of facility maintenance systems, asset management principles, infrastructure planning and regulatory compliance
  • Sound project management skills and experience managing teams, budgets and operations
  • Relevant facilities management qualifications or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety legislation, regulatory compliance, policies and best practice.
  • Victorian Working With Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current Victorian Drivers License
  • Ability to work outdoors and maintain a high level of physical fitness
