Support our impactful legal service to run smoothly

Are you an experienced administrator or practice manager who enjoys bringing organisation, structure and calm to a busy environment?

IMCL is a high impact, accessible legal service, providing outreach programs and court/tribunal advocacy to support our diverse local community. Our work is grounded in community, social justice and improving access to support for people who may otherwise face barriers to services.

As Legal Practice Manager, you will play an important role behind the scenes, ensuring our legal team has the systems, processes and administrative support needed to deliver high-quality services.

About the role

Working closely with the legal team and organisational leadership, you will coordinate the day-to-day administration and operations of the legal practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating day-to-day administrative operations and workflows
  • Supporting lawyers and legal staff with practice administration
  • Managing systems, processes, templates and administrative procedures
  • Coordinating reporting, data collection and compliance requirements
  • Supporting client intake, referrals and appointment processes
  • Assisting with workloads, deadlines and service delivery
  • Maintaining accurate records and confidential information
  • Supporting onboarding, team administration and internal communications
  • Liaising with external organisations, partners and community services
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes
  • Providing general operational support to ensure the practice runs effectively.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is confident, capable and proactive, with the ability to take ownership and make things happen.

You will be someone who:

  • Brings confidence and initiative and is comfortable making decisions within their area of responsibility
  • Is flexible and adaptable, responding positively when priorities change
  • Can remain calm, organised and solutions-focused in a sometimes high-pressure environment
  • Enjoys working in a busy environment where no two days are necessarily the same
  • Has excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Can manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Is comfortable working independently while being a collaborative team member
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is confident working with systems, databases and administrative processes
  • Handles confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Is practical, resourceful and willing to roll up their sleeves and get things done
  • Has a genuine commitment to community services, social justice and supporting people experiencing disadvantage.

Experience

We are looking for experience in practice management, business administration, legal administration, community services administration or a similar operational role.

Experience in a Community Legal Centre, legal practice, not-for-profit or community services organisation would be highly regarded, but we are open to candidates with strong transferable skills and the right approach.

Why work with us?

As well as joining an organisation where your work has a direct impact on the community, we offer:

  • 0.8 FTE part-time employment
  • The opportunity to support a diverse and vibrant community
  • A genuinely positive, supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Meaningful work within a grassroots community organisation
  • Five weeks of annual leave
  • Three additional days of leave between Christmas and New Year
  • Salary packaging benefits
  • A fantastic central Inner Melbourne location, with excellent public transport access
  • The opportunity to work alongside passionate professionals committed to social justice and access to services.
