About the Role

Join our Integrated Family Services team in Wyndham as a Family Practitioner, providing early intervention support to children and families in the Wyndham community.

Working with parents/carers and children from pre-birth to 18 years, you will deliver therapeutic parenting support, casework, counselling, and group programs to families experiencing challenges that may impact their safety, wellbeing, and development.

Using a whole-of-family approach, you will support families experiencing complex circumstances, including trauma, mental health concerns, family violence, disadvantage, and Child Protection involvement, to strengthen protective factors and improve outcomes for children and young people.

Duties

• Provide therapeutic parenting support that strengthens family relationships, reduces risk factors, and builds protective factors for children and young people.
• Manage a caseload of families, completing comprehensive assessments of strengths, needs, risks, and support requirements.
• Work collaboratively with families to develop and implement whole-of-family action plans that prioritise children’s health, safety, and wellbeing.
• Deliver individual support, psycho-social education, and group programs for parents/carers on a range of parenting and wellbeing topics.
• Complete risk assessments and documentation in line with relevant practice frameworks and child safety requirements.
• Build collaborative relationships with families, communities, and partner organisations to strengthen support pathways and integrated service delivery.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline.
• Experience providing therapeutic parenting support, family services casework, counselling, or early intervention support.
• Understanding of family relationships, child development, and the impact of family circumstances on children and young people.
• Demonstrated ability to work with parents/carers and children across developmental stages from pre-birth to 18 years.
• Strong assessment, communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with diverse children, families, and communities, including First Nations people, LGBTIQA+ people, people with disability, people of colour, public housing residents, and people with lived experience.
