Job Description
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Lower Granite Project, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and situated on the Snake River, 32-river miles downstream from Clarkston, Washington. Serves as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for the Project. Responsible for a variety of functions in support of a large multi-purpose project, including powerhouse, spillway, fish facility, navigation lock, and recreation related equipment and features. Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, safety, and security systems. Defines, designs, develops, and monitors the preventive/predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) process by considering: proper operations/care of equipment; inspections, adjustments, replacements, overhauls for equipment; investigation of trouble reports. Provides technical assistance to supervisors and craft foremen in the selection of materials, equipment and spare parts replacement with original equipment, field repairs/fabrication, or replacement of entire part with commercial equipment. Develops and evaluates alternative choices for equipment modifications by studying new developments in the industry and integrating state-of-the-art technology into the evaluation of existing powerhouse. Technical point of contact for hydroelectric generators/governors, instrumentation and control systems, power transformers, generator excitation systems, plant grounding systems, and computers used to control the above systems. Coordinates contractor work with Project activities, working closely with the Contractor's or the Construction Division's COR and the Project's maintenance working foreman to prevent schedule slips.
