Job Description
The Endodontist serves as a practicing dental specialist within Dental Service, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS), providing a full range of professional endodontic procedures within the scope of the specialty. The incumbent delivers comprehensive dental care to Veterans in accordance with VHA, Medical Center, and Dental Service policies and standards.
VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The Dentist- Endodontist duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Perform oral and radiographic examinations related to endodontic diagnosis. Diagnose diseases and conditions of the dental pulp and periapical tissues. Develop and implement appropriate endodontic treatment plans. Administer local anesthesia and prescribe medications as indicated. Perform routine and complex non-surgical root canal therapy. Perform endodontic retreatment procedures. Perform surgical endodontic procedures, including apicoectomy and root-end fillings. Manage endodontic emergencies, including pain and infection control. Perform temporary restorations and place posts and cores as indicated. Interpret diagnostic imaging, including CBCT/CT scans, when indicated. Provide consultation to general dentists and other providers regarding endodontic care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (CPRS). Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning as appropriate. Perform other procedures consistent with the scope of Endodontics as required by the service. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
