About The Good Life Farm

The Good Life Farm offers a unique, "grassroots" sanctuary dedicated to the healing and growth of vulnerable young people aged 7 to 17.

Our Life & Social Skills programs are deeply rooted in trauma-informed practice and attachment theory. We provide a nurturing environment specifically designed to support and re-engage children and youth who have faced significant life challenges.

Job Purpose

As an Allied Youth Worker, you will lead nature-based programs designed to foster strong personal and social relationships. Your goal is to help young people re-engage with education, employment, and their community by reducing disruptive behaviours through self-discovery and healthy interpersonal modelling.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership: Lead existing animal and nature-based group therapy programs on time and within budget.
Case Management: Engage clients in goal-directed relationships to achieve positive social and emotional outcomes.
Risk & Safety: Conduct risk assessments for clients with complex needs and adhere to all OH&S protocols and ethical codes.
Collaboration: Work alongside internal staff, external agencies (DHHS, Uniting VicTas, and Anglicare amongst other providers, schools etc.), and families to ensure holistic support.
Reporting: Use pre- and post-intervention measures to evaluate program success and participate in regular supervision.
Farm Operations: Assist with animal care and farm maintenance as required.
Logistics: Transport participants using the farm’s 13-seat manual bus.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Social work, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level.
Co-Qualification: Combined with a qualification in Outdoor Leadership (e.g., Cert IV / Diploma) or Physical Education.
Experience: Proven track record working with high-risk, vulnerable youth with complex needs.

Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate conflict constructively.
Physicality: Must be reliable, fit, and healthy enough to manage farm-based tasks.
Compliance: Current Victorian Manual Driver’s Licence (ability to drive a 13-seat bus) and a valid Working with Children Check/Police Check.

Desirable

Experience or qualifications in Horticulture or Animal Husbandry (working with horses, cattle, or pigs).
Knowledge of Animal-Assisted Therapy or Permaculture principles.
