Securing Travel, Protecting People - At the Transportation Security Administration, you will serve in a high-stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. In cities across the country, you would secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and/or public transit systems, thus protecting America's transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.
This Supervisory Transportation Security Specialist (ROC) position is located at Headquarters (HQ), Security Operations, International Operations, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Technical subject matter expert on aviation security issues for example, applying knowledge of transportation security standards in conducting airport assessment and air carrier inspections to identify vulnerabilities to aviation security. Planning and Evaluating: Determines objectives and strategies in order to meet goals; organizes word, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; anticipates opportunities and assesses potential threats to project/program completion; monitors and evaluates the progress and outcomes of projects/programs. Command Presence: Demonstrates confidence and creditability in presence, demeanor and conduct in performance of duties within the work environment. Human Capital Management: Builds and manages workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations and staffing needs; ensures that employees are appropriately recruited; selected, appraised, and rewarded; takes action to address performance problems; manages a multi-sector work force and a variety of work situations. Security Directives and Regulations: Applies knowledge of TSA transportation security policies, directives, and regulations, including ongoing regulations and new or emerging directives, as well as understanding of how to implement the policies, directives, and regulations in local TSA airport and/or FAMS operations. Supervisory/Managerial: duties include serving as a first line supervisor for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: assigning work, setting priorities, and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; approving leave; coaching and developing employees; recommending corrective or disciplinary actions; resolving routine problems that typically impact the objectives of the organizational unit; when required, coordinating with customers outside the immediate organization; supervising employees performing special program work; and serving as the supervisor-in-charge of an assigned airport or other transportation terminal.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance. This is an Emergency Essential position. Must be available for duty worldwide, including areas or locations that may be dangerous and require tolerating austere living condition' Work may require driving or traveling by motor vehicle and occasionally involves regular and reoccurring exposure to moderate risk or discomforts that require special safety precautions. You must pass pre-employment Drug Screening AND you will be subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TSA Travel Card. Must successfully pass a physical exam. This is required of the person selected and eligible family members as part of the process to receive a medical clearance from the Department of State Office of Medical Services for serving in an overseas post. You must have successfully completed the Aviation Security Inspection Basic Training Course (or equivalent). This position is contingent upon successful completion of the Foreign Airport Assessment and Inspections Course (FAAIC). This is a supervisory position and is subject to the supervisory probationary period unless the selected incumbent has already completed it. Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08), Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with TSA Directive 1100.73-5 Employee Responsibilities and Code of Conduct. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period Requirements: Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory probationary period to continue in this supervisory/managerial position. If you fail to meet the conditions of employment or any other pre-employment requirements, such as missing any of the scheduled appointments, the hiring agency may rescind their tentative offer of employment.
