You will assist the shift supervisor with planning work schedules and the sequence of operations to ensure an even flow and distribution of work at the fire station. You will direct crews in the performance of various standby duties at the station, including maintenance and inspection of equipment, execution of training, drills and the performance of low-risk fire prevention inspections. You will direct/assign crews to apparatus for the proper care and treatment of victims of accidents or medical emergencies. You will respond to emergency incident scenes and take charge of the firefighting operations, and determine best utilization of firefighters and equipment for combating/mitigating hazardous environment in the absence of the shift supervisor, You will instruct crew members by conducting lectures and drills concerning emergency medical services, firefighting techniques, and fire protection and prevention methods. You will instruct crew mwmbers by leading lectures and drills concerning fire fighting techniques and fire protections and prevention methods. You will oversee attendance and leave, including approval of sick leave and annual leave in abense of shift supervisor. You will ensure implementation of approved department guidelines, policies, rules and regulation, practises and procedures of the branch.
