This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until August 31, 2026 or when vacant positions have been filled. The first group of eligible applicants will be reviewed April 23, 2026. Subsequent reviews will be conducted periodically until these positions are filled. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this occupational series. This position might be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Executes duties to improve patient and organizational outcomes by providing patient-centered and recovery oriented care, maintaining self-awareness while caring for patients living with MH conditions, and managing the milieu. The nurse actively participates in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, MH Environment of Care rounds, directs team response to psychiatric emergencies, reports safety concerns, and assists in safety concern resolution. Facilitates shift reports, warm hand-offs, and develops content as well as facilitates nurse-led psychoeducational groups. The Nurse uses therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, and utilize recovery-oriented language. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. The nurse maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Will demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Demonstrates competence in MH practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills. Meets the needs of the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff and other customers while supporting VA mission. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. All other duties as assigned.
