This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
The Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager (NM) is the first-line supervisory authority accountable for the 24/7 operation of assigned units. They direct staff orientation, training, development, and evaluation while acting as a role model and supervisor. The NM collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance outcomes, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and aligns clinical objectives with organizational strategic goals. Major duties include but are not limited to: Function as the designated first-line supervisory authority responsible for 24/7 unit operations. Direct and supervise specific orientation, training, staff development, and individual performance evaluations. Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Serve as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing team leadership. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to remove barriers and implement evidence-based programs. Equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promote accountability for high-quality outcomes. Participate in the development of care delivery models and environmental design to ensure equitable care. Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures. Align nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes and planning. Promote an inclusive workplace that values diversity to achieve the organization's vision. Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to ethical principles in decision-making.
