Are you passionate about supporting Veterans on their journey to recovery and independence? We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurse professionals to join our team. As a member of our team, you will provide comprehensive care, and help Veterans achieve their goals in a supportive residential setting. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Announcement will remain open until closing date or until filled. Applicants will be reviewed for eligibility and referred on a regular basis.
The Mental Health (MH) Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) Registered Nurse (RN) duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Utilizes prescriptive protocols appropriately and serves as a resource to less experienced nurses. Provides nursing care based on utilization of the health history and physical assessment skills. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Behavior Response Policy and Procedure and provides leadership for less experienced staff. Provides appropriate intervention of 1:1 observation. Utilizes and interprets assessment tools that better delineate the condition and needs of the patients, i.e. CIWA, AIMS, and COWS. Completes Suicidal Assessment tool. Utilizes the breathalyzer. Maintains PMDB techniques for restraint and seclusion. Utilizes appropriate resources and tools to document, track, and assure follow through on patients with high risk needs or care management coordination. Educates the patient, the family or caregiver, and members of the health care delivery team about treatment options (including but not limited to CVT, HT, evidenced based protocols), community resources, psychosocial concerns, and case management, so that timely and informed decisions can be made. Assists the patient in the safe transitioning of care to the next most appropriate level. Preferred Experience: MH experience preferred. Work Schedule: PRN. This is an intermittent position. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees are appointed without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. Work is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty may not be regularly scheduled in advance. Shifts may be scheduled Sunday-Saturday, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
