The Inpatient Med-Surg Float Pool RN is a Registered Nurse (RN) who provides support across various acute care units. Patient populations include Oncology, Acute & Chronic Complex Medical conditions, as well as Acute Surgical Postoperative Care. This position requires skilled nursing care for patients needing close 24/7 observation, continuous cardiac monitoring, intermittent/continuous cardiac IV medications, close respiratory monitoring, & specialized procedures. This is a Temporary Not to exceed one year, Intermittent Position. The Med-Surg Float Pool RN must demonstrate strong clinical judgment and adaptability to changing work environments, with flexibility in patient care assignments. Care is ongoing and covers various stages of recuperation, from diagnosis to treatment and health promotion, recovery, or end-of-life care. Goals are achieved through prompt detection of emergencies, prevention of complications, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, patient and family education to improve self-care, health maintenance and rehabilitation, and facilitating discharge from acute care. The RN participates in continuous improvement initiatives, professional governance, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) models as part of personal and professional development.
