Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
As the Registered Nurse you will function as the moderate sedation RN for Interventional Radiology, Hybrid OR, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. You will demonstrate proficiency in using the nursing process, providing care for patients undergoing procedures across the continuum of care: inpatient, outpatient, the critically ill, and emergency life threatening procedures. Collaborate and interact with Interventional Radiology Technologists/Physicians/support personnel, Surgeons, Anesthesia, Nursing, Medical staff and other professional support personnel. Conduct/document the appropriate assessments and develop a plan of care related to bio/psycho/social/physical/learning and discharge needs within the required time. You will act as a preoperative nurse, intraoperative moderate sedation nurse, recover patients specified by the Radiologist, and/or perform telephone warm hand off to the appropriate recovery area. You will maintain physical/emotional comfort; provide pain management by assessing and documenting pain intensity and satisfaction with relief; evaluate pharmacologic, non- pharmacologic interventions; provides educational of pain management modalities through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Perform recovery activities, document response to interventions/findings, and ensure safe transport to recovery/ward or to the front of the hospital. You will rotate as the Charge Nurse/Board Runner ensuring patient flow, to include reviewing/triaging inpatient consults and notifying the IR team of inpatient, and emergency, add on procedures, assisting with patient preop. Excellent communication and High Reliability are cornerstones of IR Nursing thus required. Flexibility and adaptability are to the work environment are critical to perform the duties of the moderate sedation nurse in a fast-paced setting. You will cross train to Outpatient Surgery and PACU to perform pre/post-operative nursing care as assigned. Rotating shifts and on-call status are required. You will report to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager for IR Nursing, Outpatient Surgery and PACU.
