Are you a passionate nursing leader with a commitment to excellence in education? The Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Health Care System is seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) Education Supervisor to join our team and help shape the future of nursing care for our nation's Veterans. The Education Supervisor is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the supervision of staff and oversight of educational programs for nursing and non-nursing staff.
The Education Supervisor (RN) duties include, but are not limited, the following: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising staff education. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns educational learning objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Provides educational instruction and training for nursing staff in clinical and outpatient units. Performs learning needs assessments, develops educational trainings for clinical staff within organization. Manages New Employee Orientation for newly hired staff across all sites for all VA employees. Manages New Employee Orientation for Nurses for all new nursing staff across all sites. Preferred Experience: Effective communication, budget management, and leadership skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Extensive knowledge of accepted learning principles and instructional methods necessary to identify and assess learning needs, develop educational goals and objectives, and conduct, evaluate, and revise training for staff and patients. Experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator. Prior experience as a formal Nursing Instructor Certification as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist Successful communication and leadership skills VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm (specific work hours negotiable) Telework: Not available. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
