The Cardiac Medicine Registered Nurse Coordinator provides patient management, care coordination, and discharge/disposition planning for inpatient and outpatient settings. This is an Open Continuous Announcement and will remain open until September 30,2026. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. Announcement may be closed earlier if no longer needed. Duties include but are not limited to: Triaging Cardiology Consults to determine appropriate access. Working with patients and providers to determine plan of care and treatment strategy. Providing cardiology specific information / education / instruction. Evaluating care and outcomes to ensure timely and appropriate provision of services. Establishing a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. Engaging patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination. Following established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Participating in unit-based activities to improve and deliver cost effective patient care. Protecting printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 07:30AM to 4:00PM OR 07:30AM to 6:00PM compressed work schedule (days to be determined). Compressed/Flexible: Available. Telework: Not authorized. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
