The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Serves as Communications Dispatcher in the Communications Section (COMM), Command Division, Command and Coordination Bureau, Office of the Assistant Chief of Police for Uniformed Operations, United States Capitol Police (USCP). COMM is responsible for facilitating service calls and information using telecommunications equipment and automated systems to resolve a variety of issues and to ensure a response from the appropriate emergency service. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephone calls to determine urgency and the need for dispatching police, fire, medical and other emergency services. * Disseminates emergency information to the USCP and the congressional community by using a Computer-Aided Dispatch system, telephones, multi-channel radios, telecommunication device for the deaf, numerous law enforcement and agency databases and automated map systems. * Monitors alarms and manages control and video security systems. * Operates and monitors intrusion detection, access control, Member duress calls, digital videos, closed-circuit television, and related security equipment to provide area and visitor surveillance assessments. * Accesses databases for information, warrant checks, intelligence and driver's license and vehicle registration checks.
--Must be a current USCP sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and have attained the rank of Private with Training. --Must have successfully completed your probationary period by the closing date of this announcement. --Must possess and maintain a valid US REAL ID driver's license. --Must successfully complete all required training.
