This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties include but are not limited to: The physician should be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology with special interest in Headache and headache management. The physician shall provide services to include, but not be limited to diagnosing, treating and managing veteran patients with Headache according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques. The physician will also participate in the general neurology clinic, and actively participate in the Neurology Resident clinics in regard to supervision, clinical care and education/training. The physician may participate in telehealth with the CBOCs. The services to be performed by the physician shall be under the general direction of the Chief, Department of Neurology. The Chief, Department of Neurology shall monitor performance through direct or indirect observation as well as observation of work results on an on-going daily basis. The physician may be exposed to surroundings which involve moderate risks or discomfort which require special precautions, i.e., infectious diseases, verbal and physical abuse from the emotionally disturbed patient. The physician may have personal contact with patients, family, visitors and other employees, including contract employees of various VA services. Contact with patients is for the purpose of medical care and information sharing as it relates to the medical care and special requirements. Ages of patients served may vary greatly and include young (20s and 30s years of age); middle-aged (40s and 50s years of age); and older patients (60 and upwards. Dress apparel: Employee shall be required to dress in a professional manner. Medical Record documentation shall be completed timely and in accordance with hospital policy. Communicates directly and effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support positive collaboration, enhance patient care, and ensure optimal patient and staff safety. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation/examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
