The Long Beach VA Health Care System is recruiting for (1) Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient Operations). The incumbent is a specialized technician serving as the subject matter expert and critical resource in the day-to-day inpatient pharmacy operations. The incumbent performs the full range of operations coordination in the inpatient pharmacy, requiring detailed regulatory oversight and record keeping. Evaluates, analyzes, and coordinates workflow and work activities within the inpatient pharmacy to assure alignment of team priorities with the overarching mission and strategic objectives of the Pharmacy Service, guiding daily operations and long-term planning to contribute effectively to organizational goals. Coordinates the overall workflow of the inpatient central pharmacy, including tasks and obligations specific to each inpatient and specialty area. The objective is to ensure the timely delivery of services. Prioritizes operations and coordinates with other inpatient pharmacy technicians to provide the highest quality of patient care. Acts as the primary liaison between patients, clinical staff, and various units to enhance access to inpatient pharmacy services. Able to resolve pharmacy/medication issues with other members of the healthcare team, Veterans. Addresses basic inquiries from healthcare providers regarding medication order delivery and the availability of drugs and dosage forms stocked at the facility. Compounds sterile preparations including hazardous medications when assigned as a backup for other pharmacy technicians. Applies knowledge of preparation, storage, and distribution of medication, including those requiring special handling when delivering medications and pharmacy supply items, including hazardous medications and controlled substances, as a backup for other pharmacy technicians. Actively participates in the Daily Management System (DMS). Reports on performance improvement activities' progress, monitor metrics and participates in departmental meetings.
