Robley Rex VA Healthcare System, Louisville, Kentucky is currently recruiting for a Nursing Assistant-ASU/PACU Louisville, Kentucky 603.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Clinical The responsibility of the NA is for personal patient care including transporting, bathing, dressing, feeding, turning, toileting, collection of various samples including sputum and urine, entering specific information into the patient's medical record, vital signs, maintaining and storing medical supplies, serving as a basic contact for patients and families. The NA will support diagnostic procedures, nursing treatments, patient charting and reinforcement of patient teaching. The performance of these tasks involves direct working relationships with patients and participation as a member of the treatment or nursing care team in direct service to patients. The following are assigned duties but not limited to the list below with documented competency. In the intermediate role and continued developmental capacity, Performs and completes all verbal and written tasks assigned during the tour of duty Answer call lights promptly and take appropriate actions Makes occupied beds and empty beds Administers therapeutic bath and soaks Provides care for patients in isolation provides instruction to visitors in protective procedures and use of personal protective equipment Sets up and administers oxygen and postural drainage as instructed Performs urinary catheterization care and applies external urinary devices as directed Assist another individual GS5 or above in inserting urinary catheters following CAUTI procedures and straight caths Assists in administering of enemas and suppositories with supervision (with documented competency and training) Assists in emergency situations, including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, seizures, Heimlich maneuver and hemorrhaging Performs post-mortem care and assists in support of the family members as needed Performs colostomy/urostomy care after instructions from nurse Reports and records care given, and changes noted in patients' condition to the supervising RN / Charge Nurse or Team Leader, on the progress notes and other forms as instructed and according to standards Employs proper body mechanics and the safe use of equipment in the care of all patients Assist in the admission process of patients Performs oral suctioning Shares responsibility with staff and completes hourly observation rounds on patients Attends Prevention and Management of Disturbed Behavior training as required; participates as a member of the Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) In accordance with the Code of Conduct, maintains consistent, courteous relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and patients; recognizes co-workers as internal customers and responds appropriately Maintains constant observation of patients during off unit escorts per service protocol Performs unit-based testing including breathalyzer, blood glucose testing per service protocol Provides emotional support to seriously ill and terminally ill patient and their family members Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases; when setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year); selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
