About the Position: The primary function of this position is to provide guidance and functional expertise to improve coding accuracy. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Analyze patient medical records to identify inaccurately coded services. Audit retrospectively for accuracy of diagnosis, evaluation and management, procedure codes and documentation. Prepare reports of findings and recommend staff education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance issues to maintain coding accuracy. Provide monthly performance and progress reports addressing all task area activities and levels of accomplishment. Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques to effectively apply coding guidelines to inpatient and outpatient diagnosis and procedures. Review and code medical records. Develop programs and plans for orienting and training medical and ancillary services staff in basic coding techniques and requirements. Analyze existing clinical templates to ensure accurate and up-to-date current diagnosis clinical, medical, and procedure codes.
