This position is located in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Office of Management and Administrative Services, Management Services Division. The incumbent's primary responsibility is to serve as one of the agency's technical authorities on space management, manage FMCSA headquarters space and assigned field spaces and is responsible for oversight of several key support services programs administered throughout the agency. As a Mission Support Specialist, you will: Develop plans, standards and agreements for space occupancy, interior design and security. Coordinate and maintain project schedules, plans and specifications for space layouts and ensure completeness and accuracy. Observes and investigates projects at various stages to identify problems, reports potential problems and recommend solutions to management. Provide day-to-day coordination and technical guidance to a variety of facilities and support services to provide integrated support for headquarters and field offices. Prepare annual space reports and various data calls from the Office of the Secretary, GSA or others concerning real property, space utilization, field and border contractor and personnel counts and space planning overall. Tracks and monitors expenditures for the rent and guard services accounts. Monitors investigates project execution at various stages to identify variances, report potential problems, and recommend technical solutions to management. Implement and execute agency policies for workspace and real property, including the acquisition through lease, transfer and assignment; Conducts studies on workspace efficiency and drafts local procedures or recommendations to align with broader Federal space management regulations. The ideal candidate for this Mission Support Specialist role is a motivated administrative advisor capable of supporting senior leadership at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Able to demonstrate proficiency in managing four foundational pillars: budget formulation and execution, funds certification, property accountability, and human resources. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Upon completion of your probationary period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service. GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only. PCS/RELOCATION/RECRUITMENT: Permanent Change of Station (PCS), Relocation, and Recruitment Incentive authorization varies by position/selection and a service agreement may be required. PROBATIONARY PERIOD: You must complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed). TIME-IN-GRADE: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service in the executive branch to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
