The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Nursing Operations, is currently recruiting for one (1) Licensed Vocational Nurse - Telehealth in Oklahoma City, OK. VA Careers - Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) GS-7 performs more complex nursing assignments within their practice setting. Possesses comprehensive practical nursing knowledge and skills in specialized procedures and practices. The LPN/LVN GS-7 work is of considerable difficulty and responsibility is performed under general supervision. Demonstrates the ability to exercise independent technical judgments. Possess and applies a comprehensive working knowledge of the principles, art, and science of practical nursing. Demonstrates broader knowledge skill with respect to these responsibilities than employees at lower grades. Responsible for goals and interventions that promote Veterans in attaining maximum functional potential. The LPN/LVN GS-7 is expected to function at a fully successful level for all key elements at the GS-6 grade The LPN/LVN GS-7 is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice. Possesses the knowledge and skills to carry out more specialized patient care activities. This knowledge base includes the use of Veteran care data to initiate active contributions to the V health plan. Knowledgeable of program regulations and performs objectives of the nursing program. Promotes and demonstrates nursing concepts in the Medical Center. Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), and or Health Care Provider (HCP). Demonstrates the ability to work independently without the need for readily available supervision and communicates effectively with the Veteran, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff. Major Duties and Responsibilities Patient Care: This element demonstrates the direct care provided for the veteran patient. The LPN/LVN will demonstrate specific specialized skills within the scope of an LPN/LVN. Examples include but are not limited to: a. Technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations and assists other staff. b. Utilizing computer programs required for the position. c. Carries out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions to use judgement in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. d. Observes, identifies and responds to the patient's needs for medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education. In organizing and delivering care, the LPN/LVN recognizes and considers emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related factors. e. Utilizing principles of aseptic technique, universal precautions, and isolations requirements. f. Prepares the clinical environment, which may include preparing medical and telecommunications equipment to be used for clinical examination and treatment. g. Performs specialized imaging and testing in accordance with national guidelines, as well as support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing, and handling condition before, during, and following the procedure. h. Taking and recording in the medical record: clinical data from testing, imaging, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, pulse oximeter, temperate, pain score, weight, and neurological check. i. Other Duties As Assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (flexible) Compressed/Flexible: May be available according to Agency policy Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not authorized Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
